8 Rs to Freedom
Becoming free from the sin that binds us is a simple process. Each of us needs to practice the 8 Rs moment by moment and claim the freedom in them.
1. Recognize
You must recognize the problem and the evil enemy in your life that is not from God
(Is 5:13; Hos. 4:6; Heb. 5:14, 4:13; Jer. 3:15)
2. Responsibility
Take responsibility for what you recognize. We cannot blame God or anyone else.
(Ps. 51:3-4; 2Cor. 3:18)
3. Repent
Repent to God for participating with the enemy, giving him place and cohabiting with the sin that you now recognize.
(Acts 3:19; Rev. 3:3,19; 1Jn. 1:8-9)
4. Renounce
Fall completely out of agreement with the sin. Have a perfect hatred for the sin.
(1Cor 10:20-22; 1Sam. 15:22)
5. Remove
Remove the sin from your life. Cast it out.
(Ez. 18:30-32; Ps. 119:22; Mk.11:23)
6. Resist
Draw near to God and resist it coming back. Refuse to get involved with the sin.
(Lk. 11:24-26; James 1:14-15, 4:6-8; Phill. 413)
7. Rejoice
Give thanks to God for your freedom. Thank Him for every victory.
(Is. 35:1-10; Ps. 97:12)
8. Restore
Help free others held captive.
(Ps. 51:12; Is. 58:10-12, 42:22)
